“The actions of last year on behalf of the state regarding social insurances contributed to improving the social protection and ensuring a decent living of the population”, the chairman of the National House of Social Insurances (CNAS), Maria Borta, considers. In this context, Maria Borta mentioned, as result of increasing with 18.2% of the pensions on 1 April 2005, the increase to 800 lei of the allocation for giving birth to a child, increase of the allocations of death, allocations for social vulnerable categories, lonely old men. This year, the government ordered increase of the compensations related to increase of the price to natural gas, and on 1 April 2006 will be increased again and will be paid the pensions with 15.7% more, CNAS head said. Maria Borta considers insufficient information of Moldovan workers abroad in order to set by CNAS of a due to contribute to ensuring a minimal age pension. “Few know that while calculating the pension there will be taken into consideration besides the years of experience and due years.” According to her, along last year, to CNAS offices only 80 persons addressed who concluded a contract of setting the due and paid annual tax of 2,014 lei. In the same time, CNAS chairman noted that this year it would be finished the implementation of the personification system, started in 2001, including information reception of the contributors and introduction in the informational system. The advantage of this system will be that every employed person, any moment could access this program and see of the employer made or not the transfer of contributions in the social insurance system. This way, in order not to repeat the cases of the past when contributions, being calculated, were not paid by the employer, fact that led to dissatisfaction of persons, who in the end got a minimum pension. During the General Meeting of the representatives of territorial offices of CNAS, held on Friday, 24 March, were reported all CNAS activities of last year and drafted the general plans for this year, regarding the improving of the legislation of social insurance area, which could contribute to improving of social protection of the population. The expenses of the budget of the state social insurances for last year for pensions, allowances, compensations etc., were about 3,7 billion lei, representing an increase with 985 million lei compared to last year. Now there are in the country 686,000 pension beneficiaries. Population of Moldova is, according to census made in 2004, 3,38 million inhabitants.
