The "Resistance Phenomenon" photo exhibition pays tribute to Ukrainians after three years of war

The photo exhibition "The Resistance Phenomenon" was launched at the Museum of History of Moldova, in the context of three years of war in Ukraine. The event, initiated by the Ukrainian Ombudsman's Office, focuses on the moving stories of children, civilians and prisoners of war detained by the Russian Federation, IPN reports.

The 20 photos reflect the prisoners' resilience, the importance of justice and collective memory. Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova Paun Rohovei noted that the exhibition depicts the faces of people who were tortured and subjected to pressure from the aggressor state, but who returned home as victors.

According to the ambassador, the war was not just a war to occupy territory, but a war aimed at exterminating a nation that had made its civic choice. Paun Rohovei believes that the war proved that the Kremlin regime's plans included taking prisoners and displacing Ukrainian people, especially children from Ukraine to Russia. Ukraine's position is not just to bring peace, but to make a just peace and that those who committed war crimes are held accountable.

European Union Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Jānis Mažeiks highlighted the photos depicting children. According to the diplomat, almost 20 thousand children were taken out of Ukraine and taken to Russia. According to Mažeiks, it is important for these children to be returned to their homeland, and the exhibition is proof that Moldova became a home for many Ukrainians during the war.

The leader of the National Congress of Ukrainians in Moldova, Dmitry Lekartev, spoke about the solidarity of Moldovans: "Last October, Moldovan citizens were awarded the prestigious Nansen Prize by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. The whole world saw that our country, a small country on the map, has a big heart, full of kindness and compassion. Already in the third year of the war, Ukrainians feel our support, and it gives them the strength to go on."

Those wishing to admire the 20 photos on display at the "Phenomenon of Resistance" exhibition are invited to visit until March 28.
