“The rabbit's tail” – Book of the Year
Thirteen authors won prizes at the fourteenth International Children's and Youth Book Fair that took place in Chisinau between April 21 and 25. The Book of the Year prize offered by the Ministry of Culture went to writer Nicolae Rusu for the book “The rabbit's tail”, which was printed at the publishing house Prut International, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The prize Ion Creanga, for writing books for children, was awarded to Vasile Romanciuc, while the prize Igor Vieru, for illustrating children's books - to Lica Sainciuc.
The jury of the children decided that the Children's Sympathy prize will be given to writer Arcadie Suceveanu for the book “The world as a fairytale”, which came out at the publishing house Silvius Libris.
The poetry prize Grigore Vieru went to Vasile Igna for the book “Little and older kittens and a castle with five dwarfs”, published at Limes in Cluj-Napoca.
The publishing house Litera won the prize Best Collection of Children' s Books, for the Nicest Tales collection.
The prize Best Book Illustration in Original was won by designer Olga Cazacu for the illustrations from the book “The snails do not read newspapers” by Ianos Turcanu, which was printed at the publishing house Prut International.
Iurie Grecov won the Best Translation of Children's Book prize, for the translation of the volume “Great Romanian Writers” by Mihai Cimpoi. The same prize was given to Priest Teoctist Caia for the translation of the books “Abbot Ambrozie of Optima” and “Abbot Nectarie of Optima”, published at Doxologia in Iasi.
The prize for the mass media was won by the weekly “Florile dalbe”.
The Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, the UNESCO National Commission Moldova, the Chisinau City Hall, and the National Children's Library “Ion Creanga” handed over special prizes.
