The president of the country Vladimir Voronin is involving personally in coordinating the activity of the Chisinau Mayoralty regarding social-economic projects, especially construction and reconstruction of different edifices, trolleybus lines and roads. Vladimir Voronin participated on Saturday, May 13 at a joint meeting of the decision-making officials of local and central public administration. At the meeting were discussed about 25 projects concerning “the improvement of the Chisinau life”. The head of state is pleased of the role of the Mayoralty in reconstructing the Memorial “Eternitate”. He called Mayoralty’s attention to contribute further at finalizing the other projects in order to ensure “normal conditions” both to the inhabitants and guests of Chisinau. Especially, the president noticed the necessity of organizing next week special meetings regarding the schedule of the works, inclusively the finishing of the “Eternitate” Memorial until August 27 on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova. The head of state requested the leadership of the Mayoralty to examine closely the reconstruction projects of some edifices, expressing his firm belief that it is more efficient and cheaper to construct new buildings rather than reconstruct the old ones. In this context, he referred to the reconstruction of an asylum and the reconstruction of the water cleaning station. Voronin mentioned that the Mayoralty will be supported financially for implementing social-economic projects, giving the example of 70 million lei that will be supplementary offered for the reconstruction of the Chisinau roads. The interim Mayor of Chisinau, Vasile Ursu presented at the meeting the implementation stages of all the social-economic projects of the Mayoralty. According to him, the Mayoralty elaborated a 4 years development plan and will finish by the end of the year the General Urban Plan, on the grounds of which will be elaborated and implemented all the other construction or reconstruction projects. Among the first importance projects Ursu mentioned the reconstruction of the “Nasterea Domnului” Cathedral, construction of the trolleybus line to the Agriculture University, reconstruction of the Republican Stadium, reconstruction of the road to Airport. The prime-minister Vasile Tarlev also appreciated the projects of the Mayoralty, but he mentioned that because of the fact the public finances are limited the attention of the Mayoralty must be focused on several important projects that could be implemented in a short term. Asked by the press about the involvement of the country’s leadership, in the context of an excessive politicizing, Vasile Ursu declared that he is not worried about this fact, on the contrary if he would have taken into consideration the “political ingredient” all the good things in Chisinau would have never been done. He said this meeting is the third were the president participates and that similar meetings will be organized in the future every trimester in order to find out efficient solutions for the problems of Chisinau.
