A publication titled “The Planet of Children” has been launched on Friday, October 30, in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. The novelty of the magazine is in that children themselves are the main contributors to the publication, as well as in the intention to be a tribune for the children who have an opinion to express and also an instrument for raising public awareness of the main problems facing the children and youths today. At the launching ceremony, the team of authors revealed the short history of the new publication, and shared their concerns and dreams. They said the magazine was conceived by the club “Small Journalist”, a component the children's community center “Florile Dalbe”, and supported by the authorities of Chisinau's Centru district. The club soon transformed into the editorial staff of the magazine, which consists of 16 children, aged 8-14. Victoria Laur, the 12-year-old editor in chief of the publication, says that the magazine, while created by children, is in fact destined for parents and teachers. Agnesa Rosca, a teacher and organizer at “Florile Dalbe”, says “the magazine will help us discover the problems faced by the children. Here the children have the opportunity to write anything they want and everything they feel, from school issues to problems at home, inside the family, in the street, or even during play with their peers”. Vladimir Sarban, head of Centru district, wished the children to become as good as the most professional Moldovan journalists. “I am sure you will be successful and your talent and perseverance will help you further publish this magazine”. The first issue of The Planet of Children appeared in 50 copies. The intention is to publish the magazine on a monthly basis, in a 12-page setting covering a diversity of subjects. The mission of the children's community centers like “Florile Dalbe” is to engage children, especially from vulnerable families, in useful and interesting activities.
