The Netherlands’ Duncan Laurence won the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song “Arcade”. He had been the bookmakers’ favorite to win and came through to the top of the leaderboard with 492 points after the public vote, IPN reports.
The top nine spots after the Netherlands were occupied by Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Azerbaijan, North Macedonia, Australia and Iceland. The jury from Moldova this year gave 12 points to North Macedonia.
Moldova didn’t manage to reach the Eurovision final. Moldova’s Anna Odobescu with the song “Stay” in the second semifinal failed to score the votes needed to qualify. Romania also could not go through to the final, while Ukraine refused to compete in this year’s edition.
The Netherlands will host the contest in 2020.
