The Court of Appeals today upheld the decision of the Buiucani District Court to extend the arrest warrants against the four suspects in the Caravita case, rejecting the appeal lodged by the suspects' lawyers.
Last week the Buiucani court extended by 30 days the arrest warrants against the Caravita owner Ion Rusu and the managers Vladimir Rusu and Igor Cijov. The arrest of Caravita financial manager Tatiana Rosioru was extended by 25 days.
All the four suspects are held in the remand center of the National Anticorruption Center. The case investigates a money laundering scheme that caused “exceptionally large damages” to the now insolvent Banca de Economii.
