The former Gaudeamus Cinema in the capital has been completely demolished. The subject of the construction to be erected in its place has been a subject of dispute for a long time, IPN reports.
Chisinau City Hall has confirmed that it has issued permits for the construction of a multifunctional complex on Vasile Alecsandri Street, on the site of the former cinema. Vice-Mayor Ilie Ceban said that the permits have been issued in accordance with the law and that the construction will be no higher than 15 storeys.
The Ministry of Culture has taken action. The institution said that both the ministry and the Agency for the Inspection of Monuments will ask the court to annul the issued building permit. The reason is that the legally required permits were not requested.
