The difference between the "Yes" and "No" options in the referendum is nearly 100,000 votes

After processing 76% of the protocols, the preliminary results of the referendum on amending the Constitution for Moldova’s accession to the European Union show a difference of approximately 100,000 votes between the "Yes" and "No" options, reports IPN.

The "Yes" option received 433,000 votes, while the "No" option gathered 532,000 votes.

In the referendum, voters answered "Yes" or "No" to the question: "Do you support amending the Constitution for the Republic of Moldova's accession to the European Union?" The law will be considered adopted if the majority of participating citizens vote in favor.

Political commentators estimate that votes from the diaspora could tip the balance in favor of the "Yes" option. The final results will be known after all protocols are centralized. Preliminary results from abroad, after processing 14 of the 231 protocols, show that 74.1% of voters cast their vote for "Yes" in the referendum.
