THE BRITISH EMBASSY CHISINAU PROVIDES A NEW TRAINING COURSE TO EUROPEAN INTEGRATION DEPARTMENTS

The British Embassy Chisinau will provide between 14-17 March 2006 a new training course to the European Integration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, as well as to other Ministries’ European sections. The course will be held by Mr Tony Rossiter from the UK National School of Government. The course will draw both on British experts’ extensive practical experience of working in the UK civil service and on delivering similar training programmes for officials from Central and Eastern European countries. The training will have theoretical inputs, but the main focus will be on development of the relevant practical skills, by a mixture of plenary discussion, group exercises and discussions, and individual exercises on: • Setting personal objectives and establishing priorities • Managing time • Drafting briefs and reports for Ministers, State Secretaries and senior officials • Acting as secretary/minute-taker at meetings • Assessing and managing risk The course is aimed at improving the level of priority-setting and writing skills among relevant Ministry staff with a view to improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of their work. Since 2004, the British Embassy Chisinau has offered the MFAEI and other relevant ministries training courses on Strategic Planning, Project Management, Human Resources Development, and Managing Linkage with the EU, Lobbying and Negotiation, The EU at 25.
