Terre des Hommes supports mobilisation of local authorities’ resources for protection of children
Terre des Hommes Foundation (Tdh) advocates for an urgent mobilisation and consolidation of Local Councils for the Protection of Child Rights from rural communities to make the effects of migration easier on children.
On the occasion of the Convention Day of Child Rights, the Foundation calls on civil society and public authorities efforts to support local public administration on technical and financial needs and to empower the Local Councils for the Protection of Child Rights’ role.
The 2-year experience of “Fii Ajutor Copiilor Tarii” Project (FACT) shows positive results of 44 LCPCRs in identifying and solving cases of migrant parents’ neglection, abuse and exploitation of over 2.000 children.
According to the cited source, rural communities have a big potential that needs to be valued and increased in addressing the situation of children and families. Reducing the migration risks starts with initiating a dialogue between parents, public authorities and other local actors. Each child is changed when each family and community changes. In 2007, Tdh launched the new psycho-social approach methodology applied to children and families groups.
