Termoelectrica reconnects Botanical Garden to centralized heating system

The Botanical Garden will benefit from the centralized heating services provided by Termoelectrica after a break of 20 years. The partnership contract on the reconnection of the complex of green houses and the laboratory bloc to the centralized heating and hot water supply system was signed on July 21, IPN reports.

“Termoelectrica will offer high-quality heating services to the Botanical Garden, which will contribute to keeping and cultivating the valuable plant collections owned by the institution and to ensuring the employees’ comfort in winter,” said Termoelectrica commercial director Victor Puiu, being quoted in a press release.

“Owing to the cooperation with Termoelectrica, we will manage to create the conditions needed for developing and extending our collection of tropical and subtropical plants that now consists of over 3,000 taxa,” noted Ion Roșca, director of the public institution Botanical Garden.

Under the partnership, Termoelectrica will invest in the projection and installation of an Individual Heating Point and external heating networks. The works will be completed by December 1. For its part, the Botanical Garden will ensure the consistent functioning of the internal heat and hot water distribution system.

Until now, the Botanical Garden was supplied with hot water and heat by two gas boilers that were technically unreliable and costly in terms of maintenance.

Now that the institution will be connected to the centralized heating system, the maintenance of the Individual Heating Point will be ensured nonstop and free of charge by the team. The hew heating method, besides ensuring full independence in consumption, is also eco-friendlier as it excludes pollution owing to gas burning at the place of consumption, as in the case of individual heating systems.
