Termocom transferred to Chisinau City Hall with debt of 1.3bn lei

With a debt of 1.3 billion lei, SA Termocom was transferred under the administration of the Chisinau City Hall, under a decision passed by the Court of Appeals on November 3 this year, Info-Prim Neo reports. At the meeting of the Chisinau services and divisions on Monday, deputy mayor Mihai Furtuna said that now that Termocom was transferred to the Chisinau administration, it is no more considered an insolvent company. The City Hall will delegate a representative to work on the Administration Board of SA Termocom. Afterward, there will be set up a commission that will take over the heat supplier. Mihai Furtuna also said that under the court's decision, Dionisie Antocel must remain head of the Administration Board. In this connection, the Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that after Termocom was transferred to the City Hall no one demands that the heating charges be raised. Termocom sustains losses of 1 million lei a day owing to the exaggerated tariffs fixed by the thermoelectric plants CET-1 and CET-2 and the price of natural gas. He stressed that the former government created advantageous conditions for CET-1, CET-2 and Moldova-Gaz, acting to the detriment of SA Termocom and SA Apa-Canal intentionally. Chirtoaca announced a commission will be created to inspect the companies involved. Representatives of the Wold Bank will also form part of the commission. SA Termocom became insolvent in 2002, when the company's debts amounted to about 1 billion lei.
