Termocom to investigate why more consumers withdraw from centralized heating system

The Chisinau heat supplier SA “Termocom” will conduct an investigation to see why a larger number of consumers decide to withdraw from the centralized heating system and to install autonomous systems, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the December 10 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, the company’s director general Mihail Cernei said that 117 consumers asked to be disconnected from the centralized heating system in 2011. In 2012 this figure rose to over 700. According to the director, this trend halted in 2009, but reappeared recently. Mihail Cernei stated that one of the most serious problems is that the disconnections are performed chaotically, without respecting the Government’s decision concerning the collection of signatures from all the dwellers to show that they are not against. “We would like the managers and the officials of Moldovagaz to become involved in dealing with this problem,” he stated. In this connection, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca asked that the heat supplier should work in concert with all the services involved in the disconnection process to identify the reasons for which the people abandon the centralized heating system. “An investigation is needed to see why the people prefer to use autonomous heating, which is now more expensive that the centralized one, as far as I know,” he stated. According to Termocom, more than 23,000 apartments have been disconnected from the centralized heating system as there were installed autonomous systems.
