Termocom situation remains unchanged

The Chisinau Municipal Council endorsed in its September 17 meeting the concept on Termocom’s reorganization in the form it was approved by the Government in December last year. The statement was made during a press conference on Tuesday, September 18, by Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Mayor said that the situation of the company remained unchanged yet. Termocom is in a process of reorganization according to the procedure of the plan developed 10 years ago. The Creditors Committee must have its say regarding the finalization of the procedure and to allow Termocom to return under municipal administration. “We don’t know when the Creditors Committee will do it. It’s their sovereign right. The negotiations between the City Hall and the Government and between the City Hall and CMC will start after the finalization of the reorganization procedure. Otherwise, we cannot solve the problem of the debts accumulated between 1990 and 2007. In other words, we must solve the problems of the present, not of the future. These negotiations could lead to a new concept, a new enterprise in the energy and heating sector, but this is about the future”, declared the Mayor. Dorin Chirtoaca added that the concept was developed at international level and the World Bank could assist Termocom and per ensemble the whole cogeneration system in Chisinau with $30-40 million for modernization. Approving this concept was necessary to obtain the financial support.
