Termocom cannot pay salaries to employees

The accounts of the Chisinau heat supplier SA Termocom continue to be frozen. In Monday's ordinary meeting of the City Hall, the company's director Mihai Cernei said the salaries for January have not been paid to employees and the payments to the thermoelectric plants CET 1 and CET 2 and power supplier Union Fenosa have not been transferred, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca instructed the deputy mayors to intervene and try to solve the problem as the older debts of the heat supplier should not affect its salary earners. “The payment of salaries should not become a subject for negotiation and confrontation between different suppliers, the entrepreneurs. The people work and should be remunerated,” Dorin Chirtoaca said. There is over 50 million lei in Termocom's accounts. The accounts were sequestrated after SA Moldovagaz sued Termocom, CET 1 and CET2 for not paying the historical debts of 113 million lei accumulated in 2000 – 2007. The condition for unblocking the accounts is to sign a memorandum of understanding for paying the debts. Mihai Cernei said the memorandum contains tough conditions, but did not give details.
