The term for testing field agricultural crops for being included in the Catalogue of Plant Species of Moldova will be decreased from three years to one year. Also, the term for testing vegetable crops will be reduced from two years to one year, while the fructification term for horticulture crops from three years to one year. The decision applies to crops included in the EU Common Catalogue of Varieties of Agricultural Plant and Vegetable Species.
The given amendments to the regulations concerning the testing and inclusion of sorts in the Catalogue of Plant Species of Moldova were approved by the Government, IPN reports.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov said the reduction in the testing term will enable to attract investments to the seed production sector. There will appear new hybrids with high productivity and the competitiveness of the national agrifood products on the home and foreign markets will increase. This will lead to a rise in the incomes of agricultural producers.
