Tensions in Security Zone?

Circles from Moldova’s Transnistrian region are taking measures aimed at making the situation in the Security Zone tense before the November 28 early legislative elections, says the press service of the Reintegration Office of Moldova, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. A meeting of the so-called Cossack Circle is planned to be held at the cultural home in Corjova village of Dubasari district on November 20. Asked by the Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Commission to provide information, members of the Transnistrian and Russian delegations said the Cossack Circle was a public, inoffensive organization, while the planned event poses no danger. “We consider that this act can lead to a tenser situation in the region. The Cossack organization does not represent civil society. It is a paramilitary organization and many of its members took part in the armed conflict of 1992 and in many provoking actions during the local and parliamentary elections held in Corjova the previous years,” the Reintegration Office says in a communiqué. The Office describes this act as attempt aimed at intimidating the residents of Corjova before the early legislative elections.
