A tender to buy 50 new buses for Chisinau municipality is due to take place on August 28. Municipal transport and roads chief Vitalie Butucel recalled at the City Hall meeting today that the tender scheduled for mid-July was postponed because only one bidder had responded to the call.
The City Bus Fleet now numbers about 130 vehicles, most of them past their recommended lifespan.
On a different subject, Vitalie Butucel announced that the segment of Bucuresti Street, between Puskin and Banulescu-Bodoni, would be reopened for vehicle traffic by the end of this week. A segment of 31 August Street, between the streets Tighina and Ismail, now undergoes similar pipe replacement works. As concerns the start of works to repair Creanga Street, a decision would be taken in the next few days.
