A ten-year-old boy was hit mortally by a car when he was jaywalking on a street in the municipality of Chisinau on Wednesday afternoon.

Contacted by IPN for details, the head of the Police Division of ATU Gagauzia Andrei Sîrbu said the boy reportedly rushed away from behind a minibus that stopped to disembark passengers. Presumably, the driver who hit the child was speeding. At a certain moment, he lost control of the vehicle and changed lanes, striking the boy.

The 35-year-old driver was detained. Tests showed that he wasn’t inebriated.

The identity of the child was discovered. He lived in the municipality of Comrat.
