A boy aged ten drowned in the Nistru River near Telita village of Anenii Noi district in the evening of July 31. The boy was resting together with his parents, IPN reports.

The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service said the rescuers were called at about 6:30pm. The frogmen worked until late at night, but all in vain. This morning, employees of the Rescue-Search Department No. 1 have resumed underwater works to recover the body.

Rescuers warn against swimming in unauthorized places where there are no rescue stations. The adults are urged to permanently supervise the minors and not to allow them to swim in rivers with strong currents.

According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, 57 persons, 12 of whom children, drowned in lakes and rivers in Moldova so far this year.
