Ten men suspected of involvement in the murder of a young man in Falesti have been detained and placed in custody at Penitentiary No. 11 in Balti, IPN reports.

The suspects, aged between 21 and 38, were apprehended by masked officers from the Fulger Special Purpose Brigade and investigators from the Northern Patrol Directorate, according to the Moldovan Police.

The victim was a 21-year-old man who had been reported missing in September. The group allegedly attempted to involve the young man in criminal schemes aimed at extorting money. However, disagreements arose, leading to a conflict that escalated into violence. The suspects killed the victim and, to cover their tracks, concealed the body in a wooded area near Calinesti village, Falesti district.

The 21-year-old was last seen on september 22 after leaving Balti for Falesti. On october 28, the victim’s mother reported his death, and family members revealed that he had been found deceased in the forest near Calinesti, Falesti.

The detention of the ten suspects was part of a joint operation carried out by the Northern Investigation Directorate, the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the National Investigations Inspectorate (INI), and the Criminal Prosecution Section of the Balti Police Inspectorate.
