Ten operations to anatomically correct the thorax and backbone were performed in the course of 2019 within the relevant special program. The patients were aged between 12 and 17 and were selected depending on the gravity of the disorder.
In a response to an inquiry made by IPN News Agency, the National Health Insurance Company said the sum transferred for these operations, including costly consumables, exceeded 508,000 lei. The operations were performed at the Mother and Child Institute and were fully covered by National Health Insurance Company.
The sum planned for another ten operations of the kind in 2020 is of over 524,000 lei.
Mother and Child Institute press officer Maxim Cazacu has told IPN that there is no waiting list for thorax anatomical correction operations. The beneficiaries are chosen by a specialized council, depending on the gravity of the disorder.
