The company Image Partner in cooperation with the National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova” will collect funds to help the children with Down syndrome between December 15 and January 15, Info-Prim Neo reports. The fundraising campaign “Light Children's Eyes up with Hope” is designed to become nationwide. 25,000 calendars with such TV stars and singers as Ian Raiburg, Natalia Boboc, Tatiana Spanu, MC Guta and Mariana Mihaila will be distributed as part of the campaign. In a news conference held to launch the campaign, Image Partner director Petru Gutanu said the Ministry of Culture supports all the activities that they will carry out. “We will participate in many of the concerts held under the aegis of the Ministry,” said Petru Gutanu, adding that the first is the concert that Gheorghe Zamfir will give at the National Palace on Wednesday, December 16. He also said that five young women dressed in Christmas clothes will offer the public to buy promotional calendars that cost 10 lei. The organizers of the campaign plan to collect about 75,000 lei or even 125,000 lei if the people engage more actively. Svetlana Jukova, a representative of ARIS Down, which is the only NGOs that supports the families including persons with Down syndrome, said the Day Center “Miracol” for children suffering from such a disease is in need of support. “The car that conveys children to the Center and back home is non-functional. As we do not have a paid driver, the car was driven by the Center's head Ecaterina Gaidarji. We need a psychologist, a therapist, a logopedist, but we do not have money to pay such specialists,” Jukova said. The Center “Miracol” needs over 200,000 lei a year to work normally. The organizers of the social campaign say the collected funds will be used to repair the car, to purchase diesel oil, teaching aids and materials for the workshop, to reopen the canteen. There are 647 persons with Down syndrome in Moldova at present, Info-Prim Neo reports.
