Ten exhibitions about European integration mounted in districts

Ten towns in northern and central Moldova are hosting exhibitions of photographs and inographs about the European integration process. These were staged as part of a project of Contact Center, which includes also public discussions centering on the importance and impact of the European integration process on the people.

Among the ten towns are Ocnita, Briceni, Hancesti, Straseni, and Telenesti. All the exhibitions were mounted in public places, to which many people have access. Some of these were staged within regional festivals.

“These exhibitions attract by about 500 people. We also have distributive material – a passport of the European projects implemented in Moldovan settlements. The exhibits have a great importance for the people who see the projects implemented not only in their district, but also all over the country,” project coordinator Liliana Porumb has told IPN.

The exhibitions consist of ten banners that contain general information about the EU projects and European projects implemented in Moldova. According to the organizers, the people express interest in this project and in the European integration process. “A conclusion we reached is that the people are not very informed about the projects implemented with European financing. For the people, this is a novelty. They reacted positively,” said project expert Igor Bucataru.

The initiators of the project expect about 5,000 people to be informed about the European integration by these exhibitions. “The people are informed about the economic, agricultural and educational development and about the social services. Very interesting and useful discussions for the people are held within this project,” said Liliana Porumb.

The exhibitions were mounted within the project “Campaign to inform and raise awareness about the impact and benefits of the European integration process in Moldova” that is carried out by Contact Center and is supported financially by USAID through the Moldova Partnerships for Sustainable Civil Society, implemented by FHI 360.

The project beneficiaries were impressed by the scale of the European projects implemented in Moldova. “First of all, I liked the aspect of the exhibition. It was interesting for us to see what projects were implemented in our district and in other regions of the country. This project is useful for promoting the European course. We realized the scale of the projects implemented in our country and this exhibition is like a stimulus for us. Now we want to obtain more because we saw that it is possible,” deputy head of Rascani district Galina Zamurdac stated for IPN.

The last three exhibitions of the project will be mounted in Straseni, Telenesti and Ocnita on October 7 and 8.
