Ten European films will be screened in the square of the National Museum of History of Moldova in Chisinau during May 22-24. There will be also shown video clips about the assistance offered by the EU. The official ceremony to launch the project was held on May 22 and was followed by the screening of the Romanian film “Aferim!”, which won the Silver Bear trophy for the best direction at the International Film Festival in Berlin in 2015, IPN reports.
The Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola said that by showing the ten films made by teams from the EU member states, they aim to strengthen understanding. This time this is done by art, by cinematography. The videos that will be shown between films will present the assistance provided by the EU to Moldova and the areas to which it was directed.
The program also contains the screening of the Lithuanian documentary “How we played the Revolution”, the Austrian film “The 100-year-old man who climbed out the window and disappeared”, which is a production based on the international bestseller of Jonas Jonasson, and the Slovakian movie “I’m sitting on a branch and feel fine”, which is about two friends whose destinies are connected by the discovery of the hidden gold, shortly after the end of World War II.
The films will be shown with Romanian subtitles on Saturday starting at 10am and on Sunday starting at 10:30am. Entrance is free of charge. The European film screenings form part of the events held to mark Europe Day, celebrated since May 10.
