Ten day centers for children and families in situations of risk, by two such institutions in each district of Chisinau, were recently inaugurated by the Chisinau City Hall with assistance from UNICEF Moldova. The beneficiaries of the day centers are boys and girls aged between 7 and 18 and their families, including refugees. Also, referral to the Service can be made at the request of the parent or the tutelage authority, IPN reports.
“Out of wish to meet the needs of beneficiaries, vouchers for clothing and footwear are offered at the day centers,” the City Hall noted in a press release. The vouchers are provided according to an individualized plan of services compiled together with specialists who identify the specific needs of each family and of children. These are used exclusively for buying clothing and footwear in partner shops. The vouchers are given periodically, depending on needs and on the available financial resources.
“Through this initiative, we aim to offer assistance and to contribute to increasing the quality of life of 100 children and their families in our community. We are sure that this measure will bring additional comfort and safety to our beneficiaries, being a step towards the promotion of a healthy and simulative family environment for children,” runs the press release.
The social service is developed under a memorandum of understanding between the municipality of Chisinau and UNICEF Moldova on the provision of technical assistance in realizing the rights of children and adolescents in the municipality of Chisinau.
The implementation period is September 2022 – September 2023.
