Ten customs officers on remand and under house arrest

Six customs officers of the Leuseni and Sculeni customs posts who were arrested two days ago will be held on remand for 25 to 30 days, while another four will stay under house arrest for 30 days. The judgment was passed by the Buiucani Court on November 3. The decision in relation to another customs officer will be taken by the court on November 4.

On November 1, the National Anticorruption Center carried out searches at the Sculeni and Leuseni customs posts. Thirty persons, including 14 customs officers, three border police officers, six economic operators and seven drivers, were arrested on corruption-related charges. The operation was performed within a criminal case started this January over falsification of documents, abuse of power, giving and taking of bribe for fraudulently using interbus cards by passenger carriers abroad.

According to the Center, the 30 persons were charged. A part of them will wait for trial outside jail because they admitted their blame and cooperate with the investigation bodies.
