Forecasters say the weather will grow much colder, to -12°C at the start of next week. The temperatures are below the norm for this period of the year.
Gennady Roșca, head of the Weather Forecasts Center of the State Hydrometeorological Service, has told IPN that the weather will be influenced by an anticyclone that comes from northern Europe and will cross Moldova. On December 17, nighttime temperatures will oscillate between 0- and +5°C, while on December 22 will drop to -7…-12°C. The normal average temperature in the period is -1…-3°C.
There will be rain and sleet this weekend, but the precipitation will not be heavy.
The coldest day of December 22 in Moldova was in 1946, when thermometers in Briceni showed -20°C. The warmest day of December 22 was recorded in Tiraspol in 2019, when there were +16°C.
