Teleradio-Moldova presents 2015 report

The national public broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova (TRM) has presented its activity report for 2015. Speaking before its Supervisory Board, the TRM administration complained in particular of inadequate funding and worn-out equipment, IPN reports.

TRM president Olga Bordeianu said that the majority of the new shows slated for 2015 on the public television channel Moldova 1 did not appear for lack of funds and technical capacity. This was also the main reason why the channel delivered less own content than what was required in its TORs.

As concerns Radio Moldova, the report blamed poor funding for the interruption of its periodical employee performance evaluation, and also for the failure to upgrade its broadcasting and recording studios. To remedy this, TRM wrote to Parliament's Culture and Media Committee requesting additional financing specifically for this purpose.

In 2015, TRM's had an income of 104 million lei, with 80.1% coming from the budget subventions and 19.9% earned with its own efforts, by 400,000 lei behind the target. Salaries and pays accounted for 58.7% of its spending, and broadcasting fees to the state enterprise Radiocomunicatii for another 33%. Other expenditures included utility bills.

On a positive note, Olga Bordeianu praised Radio Moldova Muzical for its contribution to the development of culture and the education of the public. “In 2015, (this subsidiary station) aired 208 broadcasts from concerts and other cultural events. Many of them were recorded and stocked in our Golden Archives”, said Olga Bordeianu.
