Telephony revenues decrease, while mobile internet proceeds increase

Revenues from the sale of mobile and fixed telephony services fell in the second quarter of 2019, compared to the same period last year, but the sales of mobile Internet services increased. The information appears in a press release of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), IPN reports.

The value of the electronic communications market totalled 1.5 billion lei in the second quarter of 2019, which is 5.4% less than the same period last year.

Sales on the fixed telephony services market decreased by 17.9% and made up 116.6 million lei, while sales on the mobile telephony services market decreased by 3.7% and totalled 785.1 million lei.

Revenues from the sale of mobile and fixed internet services increased during that period. Sales of mobile internet access services increased by 18.2% and amounted to 300.7 million lei, while sales of fixed internet access services increased by 5.9% and totalled 340.4 million lei”, the press release says.

The highest monthly average revenue per user was recorded on the market for fixed internet access services, 177.8 lei, however, by 1.4% less as compared to the same period last year.

The value of this indicator on the market of dedicated mobile internet service was 82.4 lei, registering 0.8% decrease, on the market of mobile telephony services - 75.2 lei (-0.4%), on the market of television service against payment - 40.8 lei (-1.2%), and on the fixed telephony market it constituted 35.5 lei (-15.3%), ANRCETI press release specifies.
