Teenagers involved in campaign activities in Comrat

Seven teenagers from Comrat were involved in campaigning in favor of an election contestant. According to the General Police Inspectorate (GPI), a criminal group enrolled young people in activities that are banned to them by law, under the pretext of conducting a poll in favor of a political party. One of the teenagers allegedly received a reward of over 5,000 lei, of which she managed to send smaller amounts to other young people involved, IPN reported.

The police published a video in which one of the teenagers testifies about the instructions they received. For protection purposes, the teenager has a blurred face and a modified voice.
“They told us not to say “Vote for this or that candidate!” as this is forbidden. That’s why we used the terms “sympathy”, “antipathy”, “do you like him/her?”, “don’t you like him/her?”. When they came to give us all the money, one of them was talkative. He told us that he had recently returned from “Evrazia”. He had returned from Russia. Most likely, he works for Shor’s party,” the teenager says in the video published by the GPI.

The law enforcement officers warn the parents to be cautious so that their children are not involved in political activities as this can put them in danger and is also against the legislation of the Republic of Moldova as the rights of the child are violated.
