A teenager, resident of Soroca town was arrested by police on suspicion of stealing the cable of the trolley line on Trandafirilor Street in Chisinau. The offence was committed on May 5, at around 03.30, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the police, the teenager was seen cutting the power cable by the residents of that zone, who immediately called the Botanica District Police Office. The policemen searched for the offender for about an hour. He was found in the nearby park where he was cutting the cable in smaller pieces in order to carry it easier. He managed to cut about 60 metres of power cable. The damage is evaluated by the Chisinau Electric Transport Management. The teenager, 17, came from Soroca to visit his grandmother. He recognised his guilt and said that he stole the cable because he needed money. Penal proceedings were initiated under the article 186 of the Penal Code, theft. The offender may face a punishment of 300- 2000 conventional units (1 unit – MDL 20) or imprisonment for a period of 2-7 years.
