The police arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion that he raped a 13-year-old girl in a park in Chisinau’s Rascani district in the evening of October 16. General Police Commissariat spokesman Adrian Jovmir has told Info-Prim Neo that the suspect was arrested the same evening after the girl’s parents alerted the police. The man is from Oxentea village of Dubasari district. He had been convicted of rape and murder by the Transnistrian authorities and sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment. The man lived in Chisinau on a temporary basis. He worked at a building site. According to the police, the victim was near the building where she lives. The man approached and, threatening her with a knife, dragged her to a park where he raped her. If the court finds him guilty, the man will serve 10 to 20 years behind bars or do life. The case is investigated by the Rascani police commissariat.
