A suburban teenage girl is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in the right cheek with a piece of a broken mirror. Dr. Eufalia Negreata of the Chisinau Emergency Service has told Info-Prim Neo that the stabbing took place Sunday evening in Chisinau's suburban town of Gratiesti, following a fight between two girlfriends. On arriving at the hospital, the victim was diagnosed with second degree hemorrhagic shock. After an overnight surgery, doctors are not sure that her cheek will be as smooth as it used to be. Same evening, a suburban 21-year-old man was hospitalized after a suicide attempt, in which he inflicted a deep cut on his left forearm with a pig-slaughtering knife. Doctors have stitched the wound, but there's no guarantee the arm will recover completely. On Sunday and on Monday early morning the Chisinau Emergency Service responded to 709 calls, including 61 cases of trauma, 21 cases of acute diarrheal diseases, 20 childbirths, 67 cases of acute viroses, 4 of which possibly meningitis.
