An adolescent aged 17 drowned in a pond in Svetlyi village of Comrat district on May 22. The General Inspectorate for Emergencies said the boy went swimming together with a group of friends. He entered the water the first, swam far from the bank, started to go under and could not get out, IPN reports.
The other teens alerted locals, who called frogmen. These could just take the body out of the water.
The Inspectorate wants the population to avoid swimming in lakes without rescue stations. Seven persons, two of whom minors, drowned in ponds in Moldova so far this year.
