A teenager from Cahul district died after he was administered a substance prepared in domestic conditions for cutaneous treatment. It was preliminarily established that the death occurred as a result of poisoning, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection in a press statement said the 16-year-old boy on April 15 became infected with scabies and his grandmother applied Benzyl Benzoate emulsion all over the body. The procedure was repeated the next day and a substance that contains sulfur was added to this.
The teen went to school on April 15 and 16, but in the morning of April 17 he was admitted to the intensive care section of the Cahul District Hospital in a serious state. He died close to 11am.
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection calls on the population not to use self-medication even in such cases as scabies, pediculosis, flue or other infections. Medicines should be bought from drugstores only on the recommendation of the doctor or the druggist.
