Technical testing stations to be video monitored

The technical testing of vehicles will be monitored through video systems. According to the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, which has gotten special attributions in this matter, the idea behind it is to raise awareness among everyone who drives on public roads. Transport Vice-minister Boris Gherasim stated for Info-Prim Neo that the video equipment was purchased using the budget of every testing station, this being a mandatory requirement from the Ministry. The institutions interested in overseeing the activity of these stations may demand access to monitoring, starting this week. Boris Gherasim mentioned that there were cases when vehicles did not even go through the testing stations, but were moved through garages and parking lots without paying traffic taxes, yet their documentation showed that the vehicles had undergone technical examination. Through unique software, which is connected to the central server of the National Motor Trasport Agency, the Main State Tax Inspectorate and the Ministry of Internal Affairs can view dialy, and in real time, the trasportantion units that undergo technical examination. The drivers who did not pay the traffic taxes can be then determined, with the help of the State Register of Drivers. There 67 technical testing stations, spread through 29 districts around Moldova with the exception of cities Cantemir, Basarabeasca, and Dubasari. The cost of one video monitoring system rises up to 1000 euro.
