The technical revision of cars should be performed by state structures, says the Road Police Administration, which considers it is incorrect that all the process became commercial, being performed by private testing centres. Sources within the Auto Inspectorate of the Chisinau Road Police told Info-Prim Neo that there were several attempts to exclude the road inspectors from the technical revision process, but they say that they were not fulfilled so far. According to the same sources, the technical revision includes not only testing the technical condition of the vehicle, but also controlling whether it is stolen or not. “The testing centres have no right to seize the vehicle, in case there are reasons to believe it was stolen or the serial number was changed etc. Also, these centres can not prevent the illegal technical modifications, as this is only the competence of the police”, the representatives of the Auto Inspectorate say. In this context, the Road Police calls on the car owners to pass the technical revision as sooner as possible, because May-July is the most demanded period. At the moment, the official data show that there are 200 thousand transport means in Chisinau. The technical revision of the public minivans is performed by 6 technical stations, including “Autotest”, “Opel”, “Moldcargo”.
