Technical problems delay implementation of Agreement on Small-Scale Border Traffic
The Agreement on Small-Scale Border Traffic that was signed by Moldova and Romania and approved by the Parliaments of the two countries will take effect on March 30 at the latest. Though the accord has been published in the Official Gazettes of the two states, technical problems delay its implementation, Info-Prim Neo reports.
While in Chisinau on a visit, Romanian President Traian Basescu said that time is needed for technical details. “The small-scale border crossing permits must be validated and the Romanian consulates in Balti and Cahul must become functional,” he said on January 27.
Moldova's Caretaker President Mihai Ghimpu stressed the necessity of reconstructing the bridges over the Prut River.
On January 28, the Romanian delegation headed by Traian Basescu will visit the Romanian consulate in Cahul that is to start work soon.
