Technical experts from Tiraspol are invited to Chisinau for discussions

The Bureau for Reintegration Policies on Wednesday received a notification from representatives of the regime in Tiraspol about their readiness to discuss ways of implementing the European support aimed at overcoming the difficulties in the energy sector. The Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă said that technical experts from Tiraspol are invited to Chisinau for discussions, IPN reports.

Chisinau, in cooperation with European partners, insists on a transparent process of technical consultations. The EU offered €30 million for both banks of the Nistru, to purchase natural gas through the agency of the Moldovan company Energocom.

"And this natural gas is to be bought on the free market. Subsequently, through Moldovagaz, the gas can be delivered to the left bank of the Nistru. The purpose of this aid and support from the EU is to prevent the worsening of the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe and to also help produce electricity," said Daniel Vodă.

He noted that the gas that will be delivered to the Transnistrian region is not intended for large industrial consumers. The supplies will be limited to gas consumption and production of electricity for households, kindergartens, schools and basic businesses, such as bakeries or small enterprises operating in the Transnistrian region.

The acting CEO of Moldovagaz Vadim Ceban informed that Moldovagaz signed a contract for the supply of 3 million cubic meters of natural with Tiraspoltransgaz. The gas will be lent.

Under the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations, the volume of gas lent to the Transnistrian region must be returned by March 1. In the absence of the possibility of returning it in a physical form, the gas will be paid.
