Teaching aids for inclusive education launched in Moldova
The Ministry of Education and AO Lumos Foundation Moldova have launched four books on the inclusive education of children with special educational needs in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Deputy Minister of Education Tatiana Poting told a news conference that these teaching aids must reach all the national education institutions so that they are used everywhere. The problem resides not in the children with special educational needs, but in the education system where there are managers reluctant to help these children.
Director of AO Lumos Foundation Moldova Irina Malanciuc said that these are the first modules applied by official documents, but not the last. “I’m a doctor and know how hard it is to rehabilitate a child with special needs. It is as hard as teaching him something. That’s why the reform of schools in inclusive education is slow. But this will help us to learn more things as regards the teaching of these children. Until recently, the disability separated the child from the family. Now the children with special educational needs can be taught in ordinary schools, without being separated from the parents,” she stated.
Lecturer Nicolae Bucun, vice director of the Institute of Education Sciences, said that the individualized education plan centers on the individual development particularities. Based on this methodology, the assessment will be made in relation to the child and to the curriculum.
The future and current teachers in Moldova will obligatorily study the inclusive education course in secondary vocational and higher education establishments.
The books contain teaching guides. Three of them were published in Romania, while one in Russian. The volumes were printed in over 5,000 copies.
