Teachers' salaries will rise from 7.6% to 13.6% from next year. For teachers without a teaching degree the salary increase will be up to 758 lei. For teachers with teaching grade II the increase will be up to 1568 lei, with teaching grade I - 1975 lei, and for higher teaching grade - up to 2016 lei. The opinion in this regard to the 2025 budget law was approved by the government, IPN reports.

Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun said at a press conference that over the past two weeks he has held several discussions with trade unions on the salary revindications. Based on the existing possibilities, the payments related to teaching grades for teachers in schools, kindergartens, vocational schools, colleges, out-of-school education, etc. have been increased.

"We are talking about managerial grades. We are increasing the payments related to these grades for school and kindergarten principals. Similarly, we are talking about increasing the pay grade for methodists and kindergarten circle leaders. It is an older request of the trade unions to increase the grades from 52 to 56", said Dan Perciun.

According to the minister, this year the salary of a teacher without a teaching grade varied between 8 568 and 10 022 lei. After the changes, the salary will vary between 9 200 and 10 780 lei, which represents an increase of between 7.4-7.6%.

In the case of teachers with teaching grade II - the salaries, which ranged from 9 718 lei and 11 402 lei, increase from next year from 11 025 to 12 970 lei. In this case, the increase is 13.4-13.8%. "We have ranges for some teachers, some have performance bonuses, some don't, it depends on each school. That's why we talk about minimum and maximum, on each teaching grade", the minister explains.

For first-grade teachers, salaries currently range between 11 029 and 12 975 lei. In 2025, salaries will increase from 12 675 to 14950 lei. The biggest salary increase is for teachers with higher teaching grade. Salaries ranging from 12 570 to 14 824 lei will increase from 14 250 to 16 840 lei, an increase of 13.4-13.6%.

According to MEC, overall in the country's education system, 77% of teachers and 53% of educators have teaching degrees.
