The salaries of teachers from the general and professional-technical education systems will increase by 11.3% from September 1 this year. Such a decision was taken in the July 19 meeting of the negotiation commission that included representatives of the Government and the Education and Science Trade Unions Federation. This was chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, Pavel Filip said a complex approach to the problems faced in the field is needed, namely the reformation of pay grades and of the education system in general so that this becomes efficient.
A sum of 94 million lei is needed to increase the salaries of teachers as of September 1 until this yearend.
Since the start of this year, the teachers have mounted a series of protests to show their dissatisfaction with the fact that they didn’t get the 50% increase in salaries that they asked from the authorities.
