Teachers from 30 schools trained to teach new ‘Innovations and Sustainability’ subject

Teachers from 30 general education institutions are being trained to teach the extracurricular subject called “Innovations and Sustainability” that will be piloted in their schools. The initiative is part of the Verde Play project, and the training of teaching staff takes place during August 21-23 at the National Center for Innovations in Digital Education “Clasa Viitorului” in Chisinau.

A press release from the Ministry of Education and Research says that the new subject aims to facilitate the involvement of students in solving real environmental problems through innovation and technology, and to encourage them to develop their own solutions to environmental challenges in their communities.

The pilot edition of the Verde Play project will be implemented from August 2023 to January 2024 and will be accessible to students and teachers in 30 schools in the country. The beneficiaries will receive 30,000 lei grants each to implement the solutions developed by the students. The project aims to make the young generation aware of the effects of climate change and the need to improve the quality of the environment, to train and strengthen the skills needed to identify the problems facing the environment and society, but also to promote the use of technologies and innovation to solve ecological problems.

The Verde Play project was launched under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Research at the beginning of June 2023.
