Teachers’ Day follows “noble goal of turning to good account veterans’ wide experience” - PM

On the Teachers’ Day, celebrated on Thursday, October 5, Prime-minister Vasile Tarlev delivered a congratulation message to teachers, according to which this Day “has many spiritual connotations”. According to the PM, this day “offers to the entire community from Moldova the possibility to reconsider the contribution and the value the teacher has in building a free and democratic society, by educating the young generation in the healthy spirit of national traditions and patriotism”. At the same time, Tarlev considers that this Day “follows the noble goal of turning to good account the wide experience obtained by veteran teachers, being a proof of respect for the sacrifice teachers make in order to build the future of our country”. The prime-minister says that “the most important concern of the Government is the implementation of the modernization program of the educational system of Moldova”. Among the important activities in the educational activity the PM named “the activities related to ensuring education institutions with competent teachers, who would correspond to modern education necessities”. The interim Mayor of Chisinau, Vasile Ursu has also congratulated teachers on the occasion of their profession day. For Ursu, teachers “embody intelligence and abnegation. They are the ones who inspire patriotism, dignity, kindliness, honor and thirst for knowledge”. “Your work is a true act of courage, especially under present conditions”. Ursu wished success to teachers “in the noble activity of molding the future citizens of the country”. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the average wage in education in August 2006 constituted MDL 1047 surpassing only the field of agriculture, hunting economy and forestry – MDL 865.
