Teacher suspected of involvement in 17 cases of corruption

A teacher of the Faculty of Psychology and Social Assistance of the Balti State University “Alecu Russo” is suspected of being involved in 17 cases of passive corruption. The 69-year-old man is investigated under house arrest, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The prosecutors established that on June 11, while in his office, the teacher asked for money from a student for helping her pass the exam in philosophy. During a search of the hall where the exam was taking place, there were found 11 student grade cards with over 6,000 lei in them.

The prosecutors also suspect the man of trying to constrain a female student to have sex with him. He threatened her that otherwise she will not be able to pass the exam.

The suspect also held the post of dean of the faculty where he taught. Immediately after the criminal case was started, he was fired.
