The Ministry of Education and Research fired a teacher from Râșcani district, who was accused of verbal and physical aggression against a second-grade student. The incident took place during a lesson and the 9-year-old boy was hit and humiliated in front of his classmates. The complaint was filed by the child's mother, who found out about the incident only after another parent told her about it, IPN reports.
After learning the circumstances of the incident, the boy's mother requested to see the recordings of the classroom's surveillance cameras.
The child's mother told tvn.md that the images show that the child was hit for several times by the teacher and he began to cry.
Violeta Sacaliuc, the accused teacher, told tvn.md that she regrets her behavior, specifying that it is her mistake that she did not notify the child's mother of what happened from the beginning.
Last year, two families withdrew children from that class, accusing similar behaviors. The previous incidents were not dealt with by the school’s management because the complaints were not filed in writing.
The Ministry of Education and Research announced that, in addition to the dismissal of the teacher, an internal inquiry will be carried out to determine the circumstances of the incident.
The Ministry reiterates its commitment to combating violence in schools, underlining the policy of "zero tolerance" towards any form of abuse in educational institutions.
Also, the Râșcani Territorial Psycho-pedagogical Assistance Center will organize meetings with parents to discuss the safety and support needed by children, while the assistance sessions for teachers will include topics such as creating an educational environment based on respect and emotional safety.
