47 small bags of “marijuana” and one 100 g. bag were found in the car of a taxi driver from Chisinau. According to the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the man aged 41, employee of 1447 taxi service was arrested being suspected of transporting drugs. The “Dacia Logan” car driven by Valentin Salnicov was stopped by policemen in the region of the Railways Station for a regular control. The policemen found out in the boot of the taxi a plastic bag with 37 small bags and one 100 g bag with chopped “marijuana”. When, Valentin Salnicov confessed during the interrogation that he took the drugs from a minibus driver circulating on Donduseni-Chisinau route. In short time, also Stefan Ciornenchii, who lives in Donduseni raion, was arrested. He was previously convicted for robbery. The policemen found out that Ciornenchii was preparing the drugs at home and was distributing them through a minibus driver in Cricova penitentiary. Penal proceedings will be instituted for both suspects on the basis of 217th (3) article “illegal circulation of narcotic, psychotropic and related substances”. If the suspects will be found guilty, they could be imprisoned for 12 years. In 2006, law enforcement bodies disclosed 1 588 cases of drugs’ circulation, keeping and consumption. Of them, 174 cases were registered in August.
