The Chisinau Municipal Council settled at the last meeting new taxes for installing exterior advertisement depending on surface and location. The taxes for installing one unit of exterior advertisement with an area of 2 square meters will constitute MDL 600, from 2 to 4 square meters – MDL 900, from 4 to 8 meters – MDL 1200. The areas from 8 to 16 square meters will cost MDL 1500, and if the advertisement exceeds 16 square meters the tax will amount to MDL 1800. At the same time, the economic agents who will place their advertisements on the main thoroughfares will pay more, the tax being by 20% higher, but it will not exceed MDL 1800. The new taxes will come into force on January 1, 2007. According to the data provided by the General Department of Agriculture and Urbanism, together with the increase of the taxes for exterior advertisement, the annual incomes collected by the municipal budget are estimated at about MDL 3.6 mln.
